Privacy Policy

Overview

Unheavy ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application ("App").

The short version: We don't collect, store, or share your personal data. Your thoughts stay yours.

Information We Don't Collect

Unheavy is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect:

• Your written content — The text you write in the app is never stored, transmitted, or saved. Once destroyed, it's gone forever.
• Personal information — We don't require accounts, logins, or any personal details.
• Usage analytics — We don't use third-party analytics services like Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, or similar tools.
• Location data — We don't access or store your location.
• Contact information — We don't access your contacts, email, or phone number.
• Device identifiers — We don't collect device IDs or advertising identifiers.

Information Stored Locally

The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

• App preferences — Settings like haptic feedback and sound effects (on/off).
• Onboarding status — Whether you've completed the app introduction.
• Destruction statistics — Counts of debris created (paper strips, ash, shards) for the in-app experience.

This data is stored using iOS's standard UserDefaults and remains on your device. You can clear this data by deleting the app.

Speech Recognition

If you choose to use the voice input feature, the app uses Apple's built-in Speech Recognition framework. Voice data is processed according to Apple's privacy practices and is not collected or stored by Unheavy. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for more information about how Apple handles speech data.

Lawful basis (EEA users): Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — your consent, given through the iOS system permission prompt. You may revoke this consent at any time in iOS Settings.

In-App Purchases

Unheavy offers optional in-app purchases for premium features. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information. Purchase history and entitlements are managed by Apple's StoreKit framework.

Third-Party Services

Unheavy does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party involvement is Apple's App Store for processing purchases and Apple's Speech Recognition framework for voice input.

Children's Privacy

Unheavy does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since we don't collect personal data from any users, this applies universally.

Data Security

Since we don't collect or transmit your data, there is no data to secure on our end. All local data stored on your device is protected by iOS's built-in security features.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

GDPR — For Users in the European Economic Area

Lawful Basis: We rely on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the app-use agreement) for on-device settings and preferences, and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent, given via the iOS system prompt) for optional microphone, motion, and speech-recognition access. We do not perform any server-side processing of personal data.

Retention: On-device settings, preferences, and destruction statistics remain on your device until you delete the app. We have no servers that store your data.

International Transfers: Speech recognition, when enabled, is handled on-device or through Apple's infrastructure under Apple's own privacy terms. We do not transfer personal data outside the EEA ourselves.

Your Rights: Under GDPR you have the right to request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or to object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because we do not receive or store your personal data, most of these rights are exercised by deleting the app from your device or revoking permissions in iOS Settings. Automated Decision-Making: We do not perform profiling or automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects.

Supervisory Authority: You may lodge a complaint with the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany (mailbox@datenschutz-berlin.de), or with the supervisory authority in your EEA country of residence.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not collect personal information from California residents, do not sell or share personal information, and do not process sensitive personal information. Because we collect nothing, California-specific rights of access, deletion, correction, and opt-out have no data to apply to.
